Is it because they don’t wish to understand new innovation even when presented with the facts and the proof of benefits of new technology presented to them. At the same time a significant number of Companies and individuals have stood by the new concepts and have the insight to support change.

Because of this, I continue my commitment as I have done over the past 25 years, to manufacture products that are benign and non-toxic. Our products are better than neutral in the war for the environment. Using them will have a direct positive benefit to the environment; we are able to stop all types of fires quickly, reduce the occurrence of pollution, toxic emissions and even soil erosion AND save millions if not billions of litres of water per day.

With the global fear of food and water shortage growing rapidly, I feel that what is being achieved by using our soil formulas as a growing medium with massive yield returns, these products are in the forefront of soil technology with growing acceptance in Australia, that fear may become a fallacy."

As a result of 25 years of experimental formulation, together with exhaustive in-house trials and validations by various external testing authorities, these radical ideas were proven and Benign Technologies, a division of Anderton Benign Pty Ltd was established by the product Developer Colin Anderton. He went into production with the view of marketing his some what extraordinary and innovative Technology through his environmentally responsible product range.

The ethos of Benign Technologies is to develop and produce environmentally friendly, non-toxic products. More specifically, the range of products helps to reduce water consumption, combat fire, and condition soil by restoring its biological dynamics. We can eliminate air pollution whilst protecting human, animal and plant life by recapturing emissions and releasing them back in the soil. This range of products and application devices is believed to be the first of its kind.

How It Began - Our History

In 1984 while involved in the Cray fish and Marine industry, Colin Anderton studied and expanded his understanding of the significance and dangers posed by stench and dust, problems which he had already come into contact with in other industries including the building industry. Stench as we know is made up of odorous chemicals such as ammonia and as well as airborne bacteria and both can cause bodily harm including Eye, Nose and Brain damage Fine particles of dust entering the bloodstream through the respiratory system, digestive system or the skin can cause illnesses in Animals & Humans.

Colin formulated, developed, trialled and put into production, a domestic/Industrial deodorant to absorb all types of odours and control bacteria. Deoderex now Deoderitt was successfully launched into the marketplace in 1987. The standard test was to control raw crayfish odour after the crustacean remains had been contained in an airtight bag for five days. It worked, and this re-formulated product is now known as Deoderitt.
It can be used in hospitals, nursing homes, shoes, grease traps, animal holding pens or for the purpose of controlling any offensive odours. It is also approved as an animal feed supplement.

Some years later Colin developed a water saving product called Aquasave, this technology was considered far superior to its competitors at that time. Incredibly this product worked at two million particles to a tea spoon of water not the existing standard of 200. The company then continued to expand this Micro powder base technology to include Ultra Micro fine powders and liquids to create the Erosionex & DROUGHTEX Ultra-Soil - Agrayield- Range. This unknown concept of soil amelioration/ a membrane creating a condensation effect including conditioning the soil and dust control while increasing it’s water holding ability, minimises the need for standard fertilizer and brings usage down to one seventh that is normally required. The simple surface spray application mimics the way the Australian gum & eucalyptus tree influences its environment and ensures growth and survival of it’s own roots. Treatments are long lasting 12-18 months, even up to two years leading to a dramatic cost saving in commercial applications. DROUGHTEX minimises the need for watering, by up to 95%, and brings fertiliser use down to 15% of the previous needs. DROUGHTEX delays the release of water from the soil and allows longer periods between watering.

The products prevent over watering, produces up to 40% extra yield in vegetable growing and up to 84% extra yield in broad acre crops, the Micro Powder also acts as a filter trapping microbes and assisting in preventing plant diseases.

The Future IS Benign Technologies

Due to their concern for the damaged environment, Benign Technologies is continually developing new, innovative non-toxic products. Currently there exist over 20 products, including:

• Erosionex - Powder, Liquid and Granule Application: For extra compaction and dust suppression, over and above what can be achieved by using water alone, during road construction, mining and other earth moving operations. Water savings can be achieved in excess of 1,000,000, Litres over a 2 Kilometre road construction project
• Kilfire - Liquids and Powders: Can be used to retard and extinguish all types of fires (Electrical fires not included): domestic, cooking fat, industrial, underground gas, Rural Bushfires Including Global Wild Fires, fires in Coal Deposits and even underground fires in natural Peat which has suffered desiccation due to degradation of the environment. KILFIRE extinguishes all these fires rapidly, without excess water usage and damage to the environment.
• Kilfire International - Specialty Products: A world-wide licensed application service for Volcanic, Oil, Tip, Coal and Chemical fires.
• Kilfire FlameSeal - Liquid: A long term, non-toxic, invisible flame retardant for Interior fabric.
• DROUGHTEX - Ultra-Soil, Agrayield & SoilMaster liquids all contain a salt tolerant formula to assist in combating mild salt presents in the soil, when applied to the soil surface and allowing time to activate, the product then absorbs the moisture from the air, locking water under the surface whilst at the same time preventing evaporation. DROUGHTEX is a cost effective way to implement principles of dew or fog harvesting in low rainfall areas. These soil treatments Eliminate Beetle, Fungus and prevent for formation of an Anaerobic Layer in which unfavourable microbes may proliferate. No hardware or mechanical infrastructure is required. Like all products in the range the solution is simple and benign.
• DROUGHTEX - Agrayield- Liquids: Improves water utilisation in shallow root Crops in broad- acre applications increasing yields significantly while reducing fertiliser costs by 60%, where water is limited or rainfall unreliable.
• DROUGHTEX –SoilMaster ST: Combating hard to penetrate soils, mild salinity, is the latest addition to the range meaning salt tolerant, this is will soon be available in three different cat agrees.
• Emission-Ex - Liquid: A dust particle suppressant device which reduces Solid Carbon Particle air pollution from chimney stacks and exhausts emission, such as coal stack cleaners and traffic tunnel emission stacks.
