ZeroDrift - Reduce Spray Drift

ZeroDrift™ is a specially formulated non-ionic polyamide designed to modify the hydraulic properties of spray solutions. ZeroDrift ™ significantly reduces the proportion of fine droplets produced, while allowing the concentration of spray to remain constant, as the nozzle chosen delivers the solution. Read more...

The very nature of the spraying process makes drift an almost inevitable consequence. A consequence that can have disastrous results if not approached with the utmost care. New guidelines drafted by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Australia reflect the concerns for the environment. Media attention to agricultural practice makes avoiding spray drift essential. Litigation is becoming more frequent and, the use of a spray drift control agent will be seen as initiating the responsible attitude, possibly required to support a defense.

Spray Drift: A National & International Concern

Spray drift is not a new problem; it started up to 50 years ago with the introduction of pesticides. The problems associated with spray drift is always a concern for applicators, however in the last 10 years it has become more serious due to the pesticides and herbicides being more potent. It takes a minimal amount of spray drift to cause damage or injury to non-targeted plants and animals.

Minimizing spray drift is a moral, legal and ethical responsibility of the applicator to protect neighbours from the potential for damage to their crops, animals, gardens and other vegetation.

Why the Need to Reduce Spray Drift?

Spray drift is undesirable for economic, environmental, health and safety reasons, it should be reduced because:

  1. It may affect the health and safety of humans and livestock.
  2. It can contribute to the pollution of water and air resources.
  3. It can result in the over application of chemicals if the applicator knowingly over applies to compensate for spray drift.
  4. It can result in the under application of chemicals and pest control, reducing yield and leading to higher production costs with additional applications.
  5. It results in inefficient use of application equipment and applicator time.
  6. Unintentional contamination from unacceptable pesticide and herbicide residue can result in crop destruction.
  7. It can lead to losses and costly litigation if sensitive crops or animals in adjacent fields are affected.

Complete elimination of spray drift is impossible. It is likely to occur wherever liquid sprays are applied, HOWEVER, the problems associated with spray drift can be effectively reduced with the use of ZeroDrift™.

Controlling spray drift is a WIN-WIN Activity
